About Savor Inc

I, Darrell A. Dacres Sr. have a deeply personal and impactful journey that has led me to creating Savor Inc. My commitment to violence prevention, community upliftment, and providing opportunities for at-risk youth is my passion. The comprehensive approach I have taken, incorporating financial literacy, mentoring, and reentry programs, reflects a holistic understanding of the challenges faced by my community. My emphasis on discovering youth at their most influential, and challenging moments stems from moments in my life when I was yearning for guidance and opportunities as a young kid in the streets of Chicago. 

Over my years of giving back to my community I have created resources providing immediate support through trauma-informed care, job readiness, and restorative justice outreach as my powerful strategy.  My experiences have shaped my perspective, allowing me to connect with participants on a personal level.

My  journey into violence prevention, was triggered by a personal experience in 2012, a poignant and compelling dimension to this work. The fact that I became involved in violence prevention following the loss of a close friend and my own trauma of being wounded in a shooting likely fuels my passion and commitment to creating positive change in my community. 

My personal connection to the issue gives me a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the impact of violence on individuals and communities. It's a testament to my resilience and determination to turn a traumatic experience into a catalyst for positive action. 

I have decided to utilize my personal narrative as a powerful tool in advocacy, community engagement, and raising awareness about the importance of violence prevention. Sharing my story I hope to  inspire others, provide hope to those who may be facing similar challenges, and underscore the urgency of addressing violence in Chicago communities.
